Cattistock is a good base from which to walk, cycle, or drive in spectacular scenery: it is near the Jurassic Coast and much of Dorset’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nearby are Dorchester, Sherborne, Cerne Abbas and Bridport, all of which have interesting histories, linked to Thomas Hardy and other Dorset writers and artists. The village is two miles from the successful Southern Counties Shooting, Karting and leisure venue on the A37, and Cattistock House is popular with competitors who wish to escape noise and excitement in the evening. FROM YEOVIL – take first turning right off A37 marked “Cattistock”: follow signs to village: pass row of new houses on right. Cattistock House is 50m further on the right, behind a high wall, approached by a short drive. FROM DORCHESTER AND MAIDEN NEWTON – use A37 and A356: in Maiden Newton follow signs to Cattistock, pass Cattistock Stores and Post Office on left: Cattistock House is 50m further on the left, behind a high wall.
