The Dorset Knob Throwing and Frome Valley Food Fest at Cattistock was every well attended despite light rain which goes to show how popular village and food feats are.

Something different over the Bank Holiday Weekend was The Dorset Knob Throwing and Frome Valley Food Fest at Cattistock on Sunday 4th May 2008 was certainly unique. For the uninitiated the Knob is a spherical biscuit produced by Moores the Dorset bakers since 1860,

The Festival  ran from 10am until 4.00pm and besides Knob Throwing there was additional fun knob attractions including Knob Painting,
a Knob & Spoon Race, Knob Darts, a Knob Pyramid and guess the weight of the Big Knob. Free parking and other more traditional entertainment will be laid on to make this a really enjoyable day out with a difference.

Running along side the Knob Throwing was new food festival in the heart of West Dorset. The Frome Valley Food Fest featured over 30 producers from the Dorset & Somerset area.
There was the opportunity to sample, taste and purchase a fine range of foods including breads, cheeses, ciders, meats game & poultry, pies preserves, and puddings in addition to chocolate, coffee and wine supplied by well respected local businesses.

Cattistock lies midway between Dorchester and Yeovil and the event will be held in the centre of this picturesque village. It is a typically English village with a very active community who are laying on the event to raise funds for local organisations.
As if to emphasise the “this is England” Morris Dancing and a Cricket Match in the afternoon.
The organisers would like to thank all the producers who have helped them arrange this unique event, especially Moores the producers of the famous Dorset Knob, Direct from Dorset and the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty partnership for their tremendous support.
